8. Fantasize with KUL.TING's building blocks

Age: Works at all ages. Imaginative play can be both individual and social and is an important part of children's development and learning. Through imaginative play, the child gets the opportunity to explore and understand both themselves and their surroundings.

Bricks are a great foundation for imaginative play. A block can represent different things, everything from cars to houses, people to animals, yes everything that is needed in play.

Examples of abilities that are trained

  • IMAGINATION AND CREATIVITY
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS
  • COOPERATION
  • MANAGING AND UNDERSTANDING EMOTIONS
  • EMPATHY

Pedagogical thoughts and challenges in the child's learning

By using the blocks in imaginative play, the child's creative ability is developed.

  • The child can use bricks to represent their family. Change the hair color, hairstyle, name the characters
  • The child can play role-playing games, maybe the figures get to represent the family, friends, the animals in the barn, the cars in the parking lot...

Use the bricks to create environments. Build a playground with children playing, build a cave with Stone Age people... Encourage role play and let the children build their own worlds.

  • The child can use blocks and their fantasy world to describe and process situations and events
  • Start from the child's fantasy world and make up fairy tales. Play the fairy tales, draw the fairy tales and write them down.
  • When several children play imaginative games together, the child practices cooperation and communication.
  • During imaginative play, the adult can observe and get to know the child's mindset and interests. The adult can also identify the needs of the child. Does the child need extra support or encouragement in their play? Does the child need help to understand play signals and get into the game?
  • Through observation, you can gain knowledge about how to support and develop play by adding new ideas, materials or encouraging new roles and situations.
